Olympia Judo Club: Media Release (6 April 2018)

Lewis Bell Blossoms in Canberra – Dominates Competitions

Former young English judo player Lewis Bell has dominated international competitions in senior boys 60 kg division since moving to Canberra and joining Olympia Judo Club.

During recent International Judo competitions, Lewis won three gold medals -dominating the Senior Boys 60Kg division and being undefeated.

Lewis and his brother Jake along with the rest of the family including younger brother Fin (also a judo player), migrated to Australia in 2017 and immediately started training at Olympia Judo Club in Tuggeranong.

‘The boys exhibit great commitment and dedication by training for a minimum of three days per week all year-round’ their coach said. Lewis and Jake are members of the elite Olympia Judo competition team, preparing to represent the ACT at the Australian Judo Championships in June – training under the direction of international coach Stephanos Georgiadis.

“I am very proud of Lewis and the rest of the team who train hard to make sure they can compete with the best. His goal, along with the rest of the team, is a good performance at the Australian Judo Championships (known as the ‘Nationals’) at the Gold Coast’ added coach Stephanos.

‘The growth of our Club is shown by continuing new members, family participation and enjoyment, plus competition success’ concluded Stephanos adding ‘Next comes more national and international success as we look towards the world championships.’
