Business and Governance in a fourth generation digital economy

Geoff Durden (link) has explored the relationships between business and governance in a fourth generation digital economy and in doing so addresses issues raised by Klaus Schwab (link). He observes “a central feature of this new industrial and economic paradigm is the advent of a myriad of new digital and physical technologies”. He argues “it is for all actors enjoined in this new paradigm to understand their likely future roles and responsibilities in the new digital economy, if they are to continue to be of relevance and indeed of value”.

Geoff notes “there is now clear evidence that the dominant business model emerging from this new digital economy is one built around the dual constructs of ‘digital platforms’ and associated ‘ecosystems'”.
