Sports Wizard® congratulates Canberra Capitals star Abby Bishop, who produced back-to-back double-doubles to grab the Wattle Valley WNBL Player of the Week award for Round 13.
Two huge performances Australian Opal helped the Capitals split their Round 13 fixtures, posting a combined 46 points and 22 rebounds.
Bishop posted 19 points and 10 rebounds in Canberra’s narrow 84-81 home loss to the Bendigo Spirit on Friday before a brilliant 27 points and 12 rebounds on Saturday night inspired a crucuial 84-77 win over the Sydney Uni Flames.
Despite narrowly missing out on an upset win over Bendigo, Bishop told WNBL.com.au Round 13 delivered plenty of positives.
“We were really happy with our performances over the weekend,” she said.
“Obviously we were a bit disappointed to go down to Bendigo after holding the lead for nearly all of the game, but we took the positives into the Sydney Uni game and got the win.
“It’s a great challenge ahead for us knowing we have to go out there and win every game.”
