Sports Wizard® congratulates another Canberra Capital for winning WNBL player of the week honours, with Jess Bibby taking the prize for Round 15.
Bibby was superb as Carrie Graf’s side accounted for the West Coast Waves 96-65 at Southern Cross Stadium.
The 34-year-old was at her deadly best, hitting a remarkable 10-of-14 from the field, including 5-of-7 from beyond the arc as the Capitals recorded just their second home win of the season.
While she was elated with the award, Bibby told the WNBL website she was looking to help the Capitals gain some momentum before the end of the campaign, preparing them for next season.
“The season’s been pretty disappointing for us,” Bibby said.
“If you look at our results I don’t think we’ve been able to string two wins together. It’s been disappointing to be so inconsistent, but we’re hoping to finish the season by stringing a few wins together.
“If you look at the teams that are playing finals they have a core group who have been together for a period of time, particularly Bendigo, who have had a core of players together for the best part of five to six seasons and that’s what builds championship teams.”
